No agreement has been reached between Erbil and Baghdad: MP

The representative of the Kurdistan Islamic Party in the Iraqi parliament stressed that no agreement has been reached between Erbil and Baghdad yet, and that the Kurdish parliament will not approve the budget bill as submitted by the government.

In recent days, after several days of difficult negotiations between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi central government in Baghdad, the two sides agreed to deliver oil from the region to Baghdad in exchange for funding and to include it in the 2021 budget bill and the budget bill was approved by the Iraqi cabinet.

However, Ahmad Haji Rashid announced that no agreement has been reached between the parties.

The representative of the Islamic party (Jamaat-e-Islami) in the Iraqi parliament emphasizes in an article on the Sharpars website that it is clear from the statements of Qubad Talabani, the head of the Kurdistan Region Negotiating Committee and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Deputy Prime Minister, that no agreement has been reached with Baghdad.

The politician also added that the 2021 Iraqi budget will not be approved by the parliament as approved by the government and based on the clauses related to the share of the region budget.

He cited problems between the region and the Iraqi government as delivering oil and non-oil revenues to Baghdad, the number of wage earners, the number of Peshmerga forces, the management and control of oil fields and border crossings.
