SDF says seven Turkish-backed rebels killed in clashes in Ain al-Issa

Seven Turkish-backed rebels were killed and at least three others wounded in clashes east of Ain al-Issa over the past two days, The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) claimed on Tuesday, December 22.

The SDF said in a statement that the rebel groups launched an attack on al-Mushrifah village in the early hours of Monday morning, continuing fighting that has flared up around the strategically important town last week.

The clashes are taking place in the area affected by Turkey’s 2019 intervention into northeast Syria in October 2019, known as “Operation Peace Spring,” which displaced thousands of people living the SDF-backed Autonomous Administration of North East Syria.
