Kurdish movements should understand the sensitive situation of Syrian Kurdistan, official tells KurdPress

A member of the representative office of the Syrian Kurdistan Self-ruling Administration in Erbil said: "It is necessary for Kurdish parties to distance themselves from conflict and understand the sensitive situation of Syrian Kurdistan."

"Today, Syrian Kurdistan is in a critical situation and it is necessary for Kurdish parties to understand this issue and reach an agreement on the problems," said Alan Selwi, a member of the representative office of the Syrian Kurdistan local administration in Erbil, said about the necessary steps to avoid tensions between the administration and the Iraqi Kurdistan Region after Tuesday clashes between Peshmerga and the forces of the Peoples' Protection Units (YPG).

He continued: "The tension is not in the interest of the Kurds in Syrian Kurdistan and none of the Kurdish movements would benefit from."

"There is peace in Syrian Kurdistan today and Kurdish-Kurdish talks are underway and we want all Kurdish parties to help us in this regard," the official also told KurdPress.

The representative of the Syrian autonomous administration in Erbil went on to added that: "regarding the recent incident, we believe that the conflict is not in the interest of either side and it is necessary for the Kurds to reach an agreement through dialogue."
