PKK must leave Kurdistan Region: party leader

The secretary general of the Right and Freedom Party (HAK-PAR) calls for the pullout of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) from the Kurdistan Region as soon as possible.

In an interview with KurdPress, Latif Opozdemir, the Secretary General of the Right and Freedom Party (HAK-PAR) in Turkey, referred to the recent clashes between the PKK fighters and the Iraqi Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Peshmerga forces and said: “The Kurds have attempted for having a political status and they are happy that their autonomy has been recognized by the international community within the framework of federalism in Iraq for nearly 15 years.

He continued: "This issue is a very important issue for every free-thinking and patriotic Kurd, and that is why the established government of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region is valuable for the Kurds and it is necessary to respect their rights and conditions."

"Iraqi Kurdistan has opened its doors to every Kurd to date and has welcomed various individuals and parties, and has supported the rights of the Kurds based on its formality and ability," the party leader further said.

The secretary general of the HAK-PAR stated: “The PKK has been operating illegally in the Kurdistan Region for many years, and even worse, it is hostile to the Kurdistan Regional Government and occupies various areas of the Kurdistan Region and is taking armed action in the region.”

Latif Opozdemir pointed out: "These PKK actions have caused Turkey to enter the Kurdistan Region under the pretext of fighting" terrorism "and to bombard the border areas of the Kurdistan Region, causing great damage to the nature and people's homes."

Referring to the PKK's actions in the border areas of the region, he said: "The PKK has displaced the people of the border villages from their homes for years and does not allow people to return to their homes."

The HAK-PAR secretary general noted that the PKK actions are aimed at serving the powers in the Middle East and do not benefit the Kurds.

He said: "Also, the PKK has been establishing headquarters in Shingal for many years and has created many problems for the KRG and is trying to weaken the KRG and abolish the official and federal status of the KRG by the other groups."

Latif Opozdemir stated: The PKK serves the anti-Kurdish governments and wants to destroy the official and federal government of the Kurdistan Region with the help of others and will spare no effort in this regard.

The Turkey Kurdish politician and PKK opposition party leader further said: "The actions of the PKK are getting worse day by day. A few days ago, its fighters attacked the Peshmerga forces of the Kurdistan Region and killed one Peshmerga soldier and wounded several others. The PKK has shown that it is against the interests of the Kurds and Kurdistan.”

We as the Right and Freedom Party (HAK-PAR) condemn this behavior of the PKK and these actions are anti-patriotic and are in line with the demands of the enemies of the Kurds, HAK-PAR secretary general explained about the party's stance towards the PKK recent attacks in Kurdistan Region.

He added: "The Right and Freedom Party supports the achievements of the Kurdistan Regional Government and considers such behaviors as hostile to the rights of the Kurds and considers them as a great insult to the Kurdish people."
